Import products from Shopify

How-to

Connect your Shopify store, then link, copy or skip each Shopify product to fill your OneDive inventory. Nothing changes in Shopify.

What this is for. Your products are already set up in Shopify, where you sell online. This brings them into OneDive so the register sells the same things, with the same names, SKUs, prices and photos, without typing them again. You answer once for each Shopify product: it is one you already have in OneDive (link it), it is new (copy it), or you don't want it at the register (skip it). Your Shopify store stays exactly as it is, and you keep selling online there.

Nothing here changes Shopify

The import only asks Shopify for permission to read your products. Linking, copying and skipping change what is in your OneDive inventory, never your Shopify products, prices or stock. You can run it again whenever you add products in Shopify.

Open the import

Go to My Inventory › Import from Shopify. From My Inventory it is Import, then From Shopify.

The Import menu open on My Inventory: under Import Products, From Excel / CSV template, Paste rows into a grid, From Shopify and From DiveShop 360 export
B2B › My Inventory › Import
  1. From Shopify. Opens Import from Shopify. Only the owner or a General Manager can run it.

Connect your Shopify store

The first time, the page reads Connect your Shopify store. Choose Install the OneDive app. Shopify asks you to pick your store and approve the OneDive B2B Sync app, then brings you straight back here.

Import from Shopify before a store is connected: Connect your Shopify store. We will snapshot your product catalog so you can review and bring it into your OneDive inventory, nothing changes in Shopify. Start by installing the OneDive B2B Sync app, and the Install the OneDive app button
B2B › My Inventory › Import from Shopify
  1. Connect your Shopify store. What you see before a store is connected.
  2. Install the OneDive app. Installs OneDive B2B Sync on your Shopify store. It only reads your products.

Once a store is connected, this page shows it with App connected and a button Sync from your store's name. Choose it to read your products. If the app is already installed, it is one click in Shopify and asks for no new permissions.

Let it read your products

The page shows Fetching your catalog… with a running count. Keep the tab open until it finishes. A big store takes a few minutes.

If it stops with The catalog fetch failed, choose Reconnect & retry.

Sort them, a card at a time

The page now reads Tell OneDive which Shopify products you already have, with a count of how many are sorted and how many to go. OneDive has already put each product in one of three cards:

  • Already in OneDive. Same SKU or barcode as a product you have. Choose Link all to tell OneDive they are the same product. Your OneDive product, its price and its stock stay as they are.
  • New to OneDive. Nothing in your inventory has these SKUs. Choose Copy all to add them as new products, or Skip all to leave them out.
  • Needs a look. The SKU is on more than one of your products, so OneDive can't tell which. Choose Go through the count and pick the right product for each one.

See them first on each card lists the products before you commit. When you copy, OneDive may ask once which category each Shopify product type goes in: pick one per type under Confirm categories, then choose Confirm & copy. It remembers your answer for next time.

Gift cards, classes, trips and old drafts turn up too. The import reads every product in your store. Skip the ones you don't want at the register. My Shopify import found products I did not expect explains each one.

Change any single product

Below the cards, Every product, if you want to check or change one lists them all, with tabs and a Search product title… box. On a row:

  • Link joins it to the suggested product.
  • Skip leaves it out.
  • Review opens it: on the Link tab, search your inventory and choose Link to this item. On the Copy tab, choose Create as new product. Skip this product leaves it out.
  • Undo takes back an answer.

Match the new ones to your suppliers' catalogs

When every product has an answer, choose Next: match to catalogs. Under Match to the OneDive catalog, OneDive suggests which distributor's catalog item each copied product is. Accept all suggestions takes them all, or choose Accept or Search on each. Then choose Finish import. Unmatched products don't hold you up: you can match them later.

Undo works only until you choose Next: match to catalogs. After that every answer is final. To take a copied product off sale later, hide it: see Listed, hidden and archived.

Set your stock counts

Import complete shows how many products you linked, copied and skipped. Choose Back to inventory.

Copied products come in with 0 on hand, because the import doesn't read Shopify's stock. Open each one in My Inventory and type On hand before you sell.

  • Link. Joins the Shopify product to one you already have in OneDive. Nothing on your OneDive product changes.
  • Copy. Adds a new product with Shopify's name, description, SKU, barcode, price, weight and photos, and every size and color. It is listed if it is active in Shopify, and not listed if it is a draft or archived there.
  • Skip. Leaves it out of OneDive. It comes back the next time you import.

Copy is refused for a product whose SKU you already have in OneDive. Link it to that product instead.

Running it again

Choose Sync from your store on Import from Shopify whenever you add products in Shopify. Products you linked or copied before show Previously linked ✓. New ones show up to sort. Skipped ones come back, so skip them again.

What happens next

  • Every product you copied is in My Inventory, and your Shopify store is unchanged.
  • The import reads your products once each time you run it. Store sync, which keeps Shopify orders, classes, trips and stock in step with OneDive as they happen, is being switched on shop by shop. Ask us to turn it on for your shop.
  • Next, check your new products' matches: Match your products to the master catalog.
